    Talking My first game finished

My first game is now finished, download it with the sorce code so you can play around with it .

Actually I got tired of this game and want to move on to something else, that's why I finished it.

It took me 5 days to complete it.

    Tell me what you think.

No offense but you can honestly tell that you only put 5 days into this game.

1 -the screen flickers very badly
2 -for some reason the white ball goes onto the next level without even doing anything(whatever you want to call it)
3 -sometimes the white ball gets stuck
4 -there's no obective to the game, except to shoot a ball that doesn't move
5 -my guy dies and i have no idea why because i'm not running into the red ball
6 -sometimes i'm shooting the red ball and nothing is happening...then i stop shooting at it for a while then it re-sets the red ball and gives me 35 points
7 -when i do collide into the red ball it takes a very long time to restart
8 -when all of my lives finally do run out the question of start over(y/n) is listed at least 10-15 times
9 -the shooting controls could be better

Basically the game is very buggy and has no point. I'm sorry but that game was not very good at all. Then again the important thing is that you learned (if that was your aim).

I've never used (isn't it mode13 under borlander?) mode13 before, but I could probably help explain a few things to you if you'd like., such as the screen flickering. Personally, though, if I were you I would learn something different. Maybe SDL or Allegro?

All in all you should go back and try to improve upon that game. Just to let you know there were a few bright spots with the game (i.e. the title looks cool, the interface is pretty good)

Btw, I'm using Allegro, and I like it a lot.

dont be put down by what others say, i would help you enhance your game but i dont want to learn whatever you used to make your game, i'm planning to learn allegro soon (maybe in 3 weeks cause i signed up for some courses which i have to attend and not only will i not have time but i have to learn a decent amount of java by next week since the course will be using that language, why not c ). just some words of advice, work on your recent program a little more before you move on, i spent 1 and a half months on my rpg game and trust me the more you work on it the better a programmer you become, i could have given up on my game a long time ago when it was in black and white and had no quests or items, but i kept going (and still am) and it is paying off. try learning allegro as Techwins said, maybe transfer your current code into allegro? good luck whith whatever you do

    Thank you to all

I have been programming in C for almost a month (although several years ago I programmed a bit too) and am quite proud of what I've done. I did in BASIC a game very similar to this one but more simple, so I think I have done quite good, for C is much more complicated than BASIC.

I just wanted to use the graphics.h to see how graphics work, of course I'm not going to stick with it!!! Allegro is my next stop, so wait till you see ballwar2 .

I posted the source because I'm not going to modify it more, so people can learn from my experience and also because I think it's good to include the source code with the programs you make as many of you do here.

As techwin said, I have learned much as a programmer doing my game and that will help me with my next projects.

your source is much too complicated for such a simple game
although i don't even know how to speak spanish..so that could be a factor

    Dungeons of Moria?

I love that game, and you can tell you spent alot of work on it. a graphical RPG in the console, now that takes skills

thanx Okiesmokie, i was trying to add a savegame function but i'm currently busy trying to learn java (yuck) for a computer course i took which starts on monday, heh better start learning it fast especially since i have no idea on how object oriented programming works. I wont be around for 3 weeks but when i come back i'll add the save game and i have plans to take the text out and actually put picture tiles

and Paninaro ppl are just telling you the truth, would you rather have them lie? if you had made your game a little more fun, and spent like a couple more days working on the enhancements on your old thread your game would have been MUCH better, trust me

At least it has been a success... 34 download so far!!
That's one of the reasons that encourage me to program: so people can use my programs and give me feedback. Besides, using the internet you can learn from the experience of others...
