    Hey folks.

Im considering buying The C++ Standard Library: A Tutorial and Reference but was wondering what people on here thought about the book. Like the title of the book, Im looking for a book on c++ standard library. Anyway, would appreciate if anyone would comment on this book. The comments on amazon are excellent.

I got it a while back. It's a good book. I've learned so much from it... like I've still got a lot to learn.

There are some errata available for this book to correct a few minor mistakes and typos but much of that you probably wouldn't notice unless you were already an expert with the STL and the C++ language in general.

Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."

It's considered one of the best and definitive works on the subject; I've used my copy quite a lot.

    Thumbs up Recommended

    Good reference. Readable.

One warning: Dispite what the book title and the above review implies, this book focuses on the Standard Template Library. And, as far as I can tell, it is a complete STL reference. It is NOT a complete Standard Library reference... but I don't know of any book that is.

BTW laasunde, the title of your post is vague too! See the Board Guidelines and Hints above.

That is probably the best book on STL. Others worth having on that subject are matt austerns stl book and scott meyers effective stl
