I was just perusing old posts for giggles and ran across one by Dave...now I'm sad.
Intended goal failed, but at least I can remember the good times.

His anniversary is on this day next week (the 14th of April, the day he passed away). I'm planning to post some personal emails and some of the debates on a board he setup to discuss political matters. If you are around, I know for sure you'll like to remember him.
On another note, I'm happy you decided to breath new life into eternally confuzzled.

Oh God, please don't bring politics back to this board...
Speaking of politics, I am disappointed in the republican party so far...Ted Cruz and Rand Paul for president? Retarded puppet lobbyist and retarded anti-vaxxer. No thanks.
Oh man, it's been awhile since I've visited the board. I come back, and the first post I see is about Dave Sinkula. Brings me back.
In every country that has gone through hell and blizzard to finally reach the maturity of a two-party system and thus offer all the great benefits of democracy, there's a gentleman agreement that after two mandates, one must give way to the opposition to do the same. Everyone is after the same after all, and is considered rude to want it all for yourself. So, I wager the republican party isn't a whole lot concerned with their candidates. They know it is their turn to win the house and lose the senate. Anyone can become president. And the republican party is very good at choosing anyones for president.

The people who would actually make good candidates are usually the type of people who could never get elected. I mean imagine any candidate actually speaking plainly while clarifying their positions, and using logic to justify those positions. Someone like that would get torn to shreds by the identity politics and celebrity culture in the US (too many other candidates are willing to say what will please most of the people).
